VOTE!!!

Today was my first day volunteering for the Republican Committee's Office. Taking surveys for the party to get a pulse for how the election is going. I have to say that I am surprised that I was surprised with some of the responses that I received. People seem to be clueless to what is at hand. If you listen to the media, they would have believe that the country is so outraged at the way GWB has governed us that we have only one logical option for the presidency. I realize that people are busy and the last thing they want to do with their day is to talk to me about the election. But I certainly got the impression that people who had an opinion, aligned themselves with party that would by no means would support their needs. One lady was a Pro-life democrat, (which don't get me wrong I am happy she was pro-life) but you just wanted to say, Realllly???

Obviously I don't want to sound condescending, but people, live your life with conviction. Know what matters to you. Support the issues that are important for you today, because our kids will live with our choices tomorrow.
This message was not approved by John McCain or paid for by the Republican Committee's Office.
Go McCain and Palin!

Fun in the sun!

This weekend was Charis' 3rd birthday. It was a sandcastle theme. Oh what a cute party. Just look at that cake. Cari had her father in law build a stand up sandbox like Luke's. All the kids were standing around and little Lilly was just tall enough to peek her nose over to see what all the fuss was about. It was a perfect day to be outside with the kids. The neat thing about the party is that is was supposed to be a swim party, but with the hurricane bringing in all the bad weather, Cari had to change almost all of her plans for the day. But when the day was over and done I couldn't have imaged it being any better!

Three Cheers for Johnny B!

This past weekend, some great friends of ours hosted an open house. They have been working to remodel their house for a couple of years now. Also for as long as I can remember, John has been stockpiling woodworking tools for the day when he would have a workshop to put them in. Well that day has come and how neat it was to see a dream come to fruition. For us also, as it turns out, John had some pieces that he has handcrafted through the years to raffle off. Bryan their oldest just went off to college and this was his "Lego table". We won it! Luke was so excited. On the way home he says "thanks mom for winning it for me. Your the greatest mom ever" like I spent a hundred bucks on it. We rearranged his room and he set up two seats. He says "one for me and one for Lilly" which John also made for Luke. He was so excited about it he sat there and did his homework. Here he is just before bedtime tonight, playing with his army men. So he has been there pretty much all night. Thank you John for the awesome table. I can see that it will be used ALOT!

Learning too quickly

Today for breakfast, my son pulls out the french toast sticks out of the freezer. As he is putting them on his plate he asks me "are you going to Walmart today? I asked "why?" from the living room where I am getting Lilly dressed. Luke lifts the box and raises his eyebrows like a 14 year old and shakes the empty box at me. He says "french toast sticks...." like duh. I thought to myself are you kidding me. Travis is famous for this, for example, Travis is fixing a sandwich and he'll say, are you going to walmart? but what he doesn't say, is that we need bread. So I get back from walmart without the bread (of course) and he'll say I thought you were going to get bread! What!!! Seriously! The next ten years of reading their minds flashed before my eyes. Just another reason why God makes them so cute at first. So you won't give them away when they are annoying! hah!

Luke is 7 today!

Even though we had a party earlier, Luke's actual birthday was today. Because his birthday fell on a holiday this year we celebrated on his "Gotcha Day". Today was low key but fun. I wanted to look back at some cute pictures and remember him as he has grown.

Home for the holiday

Well Kansas City isn't my home, it is where my parents live. They moved up there together when my younger sister graduated from high school. It has been a long time, 16 years I think. But when you are with the ones you love it always feels like home. We went up for Labor day weekend and to celebrate Luke's 7th birthday with my parents. Lilly hasn't spent much time there, I think this only her second visit. She did ok, except for the whining, which was her response for not being in a familiar place. But when she was on, she was on. She was very entertaining. She had us all laughing our socks off.
Mom wanted to take Luke shopping on their own, to have some alone time, so I was dropped off at Archivers. Which was fine with me. I love that store. I really wish that we had one closer. But they were off to BestBuy and he got a DS game and a Mp3 player. His dad and all his cousins got a Mp3 player for Christmas last year and I think that Luke has wanted one ever since. So he was ecstatic. But other than that it was a quiet weekend. We enjoyed some good food, great company and the kids for our holiday. I hate for our time together to be over, so it makes long for a time when we can be closer without all the miles between us. And unfortunely I forgot the camera, but mom got a few shots, maybe she'll email to me. hint hint.
